Why Buy Your Oxygen Concentrator from Us?

If you suffer from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease [COPD], you must learn that all oxygen concentrators work the same. That is, they have the same goal: they take in air in the surrounding atmosphere and turn it into cleaner, breathable air. More specifically, they take unpurified air and turn it into medical grade oxygen.

Ambient air, the air in any room, contains nearly three times the amount of nitrogen than oxygen. Thus, the oxygen compressor removes the nitrogen from the filtered air and delivers purified oxygen to the patient. Although all concentrators have the same goal, they do not all operate the same. That is, the first thing you should know about oxygen concentrators is that they are not all created equally. Thus, our goal at Southeastern Equipment & Oxygen is to provide you with the concentrator that best suits your needs. If you are new the world of concentrators or are undergoing respiratory therapy long-term, please call us at (800) 653-6888. Our Customer Support team is ready to answer any questions you may have about concentrators and respiratory therapy in general.

 Product Knowledge

There are many, many oxygen concentrators on the market. There is not one concentrator that works for all people. In a recent study[1]outlined in BMC Pulmonary Medicine, research doctors sought to compare different types of portable oxygen concentrators to determine which types worked for specific patient behaviors. Specifically, they wanted to determine how effective portable oxygen concentrators [POC’s] are for patients while they are sleeping.

The research doctors focused on nocturnal patterns since there has been concern that modern POC’s don’t work very well for sleeping patients. They considered physical characteristics of the patients, such as nasal geometry. They looked at how often patients breathed through their mouths. Finally, they looked at how patients’ sleep patterns contributed to the effectiveness of the oxygen concentrator. What they discovered is that modern POC’s do work very well at night. However, patients need to select the concentrator that is right for them by taking into account physical characteristics. This is where Southeastern Equipment & Oxygen can help you: we have decades of combined experience in the industry and have an extensive knowledge of products. As a result, we seek to pair you with the product that best suits your needs.
